The House That Jesus Built - Week #10: Get Your Feet Wet By Pastor Jym Cook

James 2:14-26 Joshua 3:1-17

I. The Tale of Two Seas

The Sea of Galilee is full of life because it has both an inlet and an outlet.

The Dead Sea is stagnant because it only receives; it never gives.

The Big Idea: Faith without an "outflow" of works becomes a Dead Sea faith.

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." James 2:17

II. The Danger of Stagnation

Saving faith is more than just intellectual agreement.

It’s not about what you know… it’s about what you DO with what you know!

Even the demons believe in God—and they shudder! James 2:19

The problem with the demons - They had the information, but they did not have the TRANSFORMATION.

If our faith doesn't change our behavior, it hasn't truly changed our hearts.

III. The "Wet Feet" Principle (Joshua 3)

The Jordan River was at flood stage when God gave the command to cross.

The miracle did not start on the bank; it started in the river.

Faith is knowing God can; Works is stepping in while the water is still flowing.

The water stopped when the soles of the priests' feet touched the edge of the water. Joshua 3:15

IV. Walking on Water vs. Staying in the Boat

Peter was a man of the Galilee who understood that faith requires momentum.

The boat is a place of safety, but the water is the place of miracles.

Your faith is made complete by what you do. James 2:22

V. The "Peter Protocol" (My Action Plan)

Identify my "Boat": I need to step out of my comfort zone of ____.

Look for the "Water": One "good work" God is calling me to do this week is ____.

Take the First Step: I will stop just listening and start doing.

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22
