Semicolon Series - Week #2 By Timothy Moore

Ephesians 3:20-21 Acts 13:20-22 1 Samuel 30:6-8

King David’s Semicolon Experience: When Ziklag Burns

A semicolon always means… there’s more to come!

A semicolon brings three things… hope, clarity, or solution.

A semicolon can be translated into the words… yet, but, or and.

“I have battled addiction for fifteen years.” or… "I have battled addiction for fifteen years; Christ has delivered me and I've been clean for three years."

"My life has been so broken and dark.”...or "My life has been so broken and dark; I am getting healing and peace as I draw near to God."

Dr. John Piper stated that all the hope in the Bible is found in the (semicolon statements) ‘yet God, but God, and God’ expressions in Scripture.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation (maybe the result of your own poor choices, maybe not) where it feels like the whole world is against you and there’s no one there to encourage you?

David did everything God wanted him to do, but he didn’t ONLY do what God wanted him to do.

Just because you have the Spirit of God, doesn’t mean you always listen.

Sin: Always takes you further than you want go. Always keeps you longer than you want to stay. Always costs you more than you thought you’d pay. Fascinates then assassinates. Thrills and then kills.

Ziklag is the place of the devil’s temporary provision, to set you up for destruction.

David chooses to believe that nothing can be hopeless when we put our hope in God.

Will you choose semicolons instead of periods in your decisions this week?

When life gets incredibly hard and Ziklag is burning, will you press into God, into faith, and seek God’s direction.
