Advent Week #3 - Joy in the Waiting By Jym Cook

Galatians 5:22-23 Matthew 2:9-12 James 1:2

Biblical Distinction Between Joy and Happiness

HAPPINESS is often related to Makarios (gr) which is or can be used for a fleeting happiness or Chara (gr) when used circumstantial.

JOY is used more closely to two greek words Chairo -to “rejoice” and Charis = Grace… Joy that flows from Grace.

His JOY was actionable, it was a navigational component in his life’s GPS.

JOY comes from God’s unmerited favor = GRACE…

A joy filled life is… uncommon.

1 Peter 1:6-8 Says believers can “Greatly rejoice” with “JOY inexpressible and full of glory” even while grieving through trials.
