Pathway To Joy - Part 9: In The Lord By Pastor Bruce Shellhamer
Philippians 4:2–9 Philippians 2:1–4 Colossians 3:13 Colossians 3:1–2 Matthew 6:7–13 John 14:27 Proverbs 4:23 Isaiah 26:3
The love with which we love each other - is a measure of how much we love Jesus.
To “rejoice in the Lord always” is really an appeal to our faith in Christ
(In the Lord) “denotes a state of being or living that is in alignment with the will, character, and purposes of God as revealed through Jesus Christ. This phrase encapsulates the believer's relationship with God, emphasizing trust, obedience, and unity with Christ.” (D Miall Edwards)
Our prayers are not to beg for God’s attention; He is near; He knows us; He knows our deepest needs
Our prayers are to align our minds with the mind of Christ, not to change His mind to align with ours
Our prayers are to be more listening than talking; no need for repetitious requests, as if God didn’t hear us the first time
For Reflection: If the peace of God comes as a result of prayer, love and knowledge of Christ, it’s fair to ask; “If you’re feeling anxious, how’s your Bible study and prayer life?”
How we think, and what we think about, shapes who we become
If you were to get in your quiet place, and write yourself a letter today, defining who you want to be in one year, what would you write to yourself?
