Jesus On... - Rest By Timothy Moore Matthew 11:28-30 Hebrews 4:8-11 Ephesians 2:8-9
Has anyone ever accomplished more than Jesus?
Did Jesus ever get in a hurry?
If the goal is to be like Jesus, should we view time and tasks differently?
The promise is... "I will give you rest..." and "You will find rest for your souls."
Soteros = ‘salvation’ or ‘healing’ or ‘restoration’
"Come to me..." = Being with Jesus "Let me teach you..." = Being like Jesus "Take my yoke upon you" = Being how Jesus would be if He was living your life (your circumstances and relationships).
Sabbatical (rest) lessons-
- Say, "No" so you can say, "Yes"
- Be more of a human-being and less of a human-doing
- God made us to be human beings, but if we don't walk with Him we become:
- Human-doings (rushing, achieving, efficient in tasks, and deficient in relationships)
- Human-havings (driven by accumulation to numb emptiness)
- Human-projecting (projecting our lives onto our kids or grandkids, trying to live vicariously through them, placing on them the crushing burden of being our reason for living)
Jesus Christ is our Rest
Can you imagine yourself slowing down enough to hear God?
